An Interesting
Article/Podcast
I have binged every
episode of this series. Christianity on Trial examines the claims
of Christianity by the rules of evidence as used in the court of law. This
podcast is hosted Dr. John Warwick Montgomery, who is a lawyer, a theologian,
an author, and an accomplished defender of biblical Christianity. Dr.
Montgomery is quite the scholar! He has 11 earned degrees in multiple disciplines: philosophy, librarianship, theology,
and law. His
degrees include: the A.B. with distinction in Philosophy (Cornell University; Phi
Beta Kappa), B.L.S. and M.A. (University of California, Berkeley),
B.D. and S.T.M. (Wittenberg University, Springfield,
Ohio), LL.B. (La Salle Extension University), M.
Phil. in Law (University of Essex, England), Ph.D. (University of Chicago), Th.D. Doctorat
d'Universite (University of Strasbourg), LLM and LLD in
canon law (Cardiff University). I have found it very useful
as I think about how to present the Christian faith in a way that helps people
to believe in Jesus.
Quote I’m
Pondering
“Attention is the beginning of devotion.” – Mary
Oliver, quoted by Cal Newport, who added, “The unnoticed can’t possibly be
loved.”
One Good Thing
This Week
Our Vacation Bible School was wonderful. Each day we
filled half the pews with children who were ready to have fun and learn about
Jesus. Across the week, they learned about Joshua, Gideon, David, Esther, and
Jesus. Part of what makes VBS special to me is the range of people who help.
From senior citizens to middle schoolers, there were many people who gave of
their time and talents to love on the children and to tell them about Jesus’
victory over sin and death.
Our Scripture
readings for Trinity Sunday are:
Over the years I have learned that those who read the
Scripture lessons and spend a little time thinking about them before church on
Sunday get more out of the service.
The sermon is: How Majestic
