Four Things on Friday

An Interesting
Article/Podcast
Luis Palau is an evangelist, similar to Billy Graham. He
is from Argentina and has done extensive evangelism work throughout the
Americas. He has stage four lung cancer, and sometimes you can hear that he is
getting a little winded, but that does not diminish his passion for sharing the
Gospel and proclaiming the love of God in Christ. I found this interview to be
inspiring.
Quote I’m
Pondering
“They are church that refuses to die because it has a
mission in its own area.” – Rev. Kip Smith, spoken of a church seeking to reach
people with the love of Jesus.
One Good Thing
This Week
On the first Saturday of each month we have Rejoicing
Spirits, a special worship service for people with developmental delays. If you
have never attended this service, you really should check it out sometime. It
is a beautiful ministry. Most of the people who attend are not members of
Gloria Dei, but they often tell me how much that service means to them. This
past Saturday one of those families approached me and talked about how much
this service matters for their child and told me about the child’s excitement
when they say it is time for Rejoicing Spirits. Then they handed me an envelope
with a donation for our building fund.
I am under the impression that this family is not
particularly wealthy, nor are they members here, but our vision and mission are
so exciting to them that they wanted to support and be part of it. That is
truly a beautiful and encouraging moment!
Our Scripture
readings for Pentecost Sunday are:
Over the years I have learned that those who read the
Scripture lessons and spend a little time thinking about them before church on
Sunday get more out of the service.
The sermon is: Filled With the Holy Spirit
