Good Evening, Lord!
Words of Comfort
You keep
him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.
(Isa. 26:3 ESV)
Prayer of Confession
O God of
love, O King of peace
Make wars
throughout the world to cease;
The rage of
nations now restrain.
Remember,
Lord, Thy works of old,
The wonders
that Thy people told;
Remember
not our sins’ dark stain.
Whom shall
we trust but Thee, O Lord?
Where rest
but on thy faithful Word?
None ever
called on Thee in vain.
Where
saints and angels dwell above,
All hearts
are knit in holy love;
O bind us
in that heav’nly chain.
Give peace,
O God, give peace again![1]
Catechism Reflections
The Third Article of the Apostles’ Creed
Sanctification
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian
church, the communion of saints, the forgivness of sins, the resurrection of
the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
What does
this mean? I believe that I cannot by my own reason or strength believe in
Jesus Christ, my Lord, or come to Him; but the Holy Spirit has called me by the
Gospel, enlightened me with His gifts, sanctified and kept me in the true
faith.
In the same
way He calls, gathers, enlightens, and sanctifies the whole Christian church on
earth, and keeps it with Jesus Christ in the one true faith.
In this
Christian church He daily and richly forgives all my sins and the sins of all
believers.
On the Last
Day He will raise me and all the dead, and give eternal life to me and all believers
in Christ.
This is
most certainly true.

Petitions of the Lord’s Prayer
“Give us
this day our daily bread.”
Heavenly
Father, You give daily bread to everyone without our prayers, even to all evil
people, but we pray in this petition that You would lead us to realize this and
to receive our daily bread with thanksgiving. Make us mindful of all that You
give us that has to do with the support and needs of the body, such as food,
drink, clothing, shoes, house, home, land, animals, money, goods, a devout
husband or wife, devout children, devout workers, devout and faithful rulers,
good government, good weather, peace, health, self-control, good reputation,
good friends, faithful neighbors, and help us to always give thanks to You; in
Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
Verse of Benediction
The grace
of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy
Spirit be with you all. (2 Cor. 13:14 ESV)
