An Interesting Article/Podcast
One of the aspects of my education that I value very highly is learning the biblical languages. I’m not as good at using them as I would like to be, but I appreciate reading the Bible in the original enough that I have continued to translate the texts for preaching, teaching, and devotions. Chad Bird is highly proficient in Hebrew, and, in fact, used to teach Hebrew at Concordia Theological Seminary, Ft. Wayne, IN. I thought this article was appropriate for today as we recall Jesus’ crucifixion at Golgotha. Bird uses some obscure Hebrew to help us appreciate Jesus’ death and resurrection in a unique way.

Quote I’m Pondering

I commented on Monday when I communed with my family that this might be the longest I have gone without receiving Holy Communion since I was confirmed over thirty years ago. While I am glad that I was able to commune some of you, I am still frustrated that I could not arrange for all of us to receive the Sacrament of the Altar. I definitely long for the day when we will be able to gather together and receive Jesus’ body and blood at the altar in the sanctuary of our church home.

Our Scripture readings for Easter Sunday are:
Over the years I have learned that those who read the Scripture lessons and spend a little time thinking about them before church on Sunday get more out of the service.

The sermon is: Out of the Tomb
