April 28: Morning Devotion

Good Morning, Lord!
I Am Baptized
Saul was urged by Ananias, “Rise and be baptized and wash away your sins, calling on [Jesus’] name.”

Make the sign of the cross as you say, “In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.”

A Morning Prayer
Father in Heaven, as the surely as the sun rises in the east, whether I see it or not. You have kept me this night beyond any awareness on my part. Thank you! As the new day begins, do not leave me, but help me know that you are with me always. And if I am to face the day unaware of your presence, help me to cling to your promises that you will never forsake me. Please protect my loved ones today. Grant them your Holy Spirit to deliver them from any false belief, shameful behavior, and especial to keep them from despairing of your love, mercy, grace and forgiveness. Fill us with hope in Jesus’ death and resurrection as the proof of your love, and send your holy angels to protect us from any dangers to our bodies and lives. We pray these things in Jesus’ name. Amen.

I Believe …
I believe that God has made me and all creatures; that He has given me my body and soul, eyes, ears, and all my members, my reason and all my senses, and still takes care of them. He also gives me clothing and shoes, food and drink, house and home, wife and children, land, animals, and all I have. He richly and daily provides me with all that I need to support this body and life. He defends me against all danger and guards and protects me from all evil. All this He does only out of fatherly, divine goodness and mercy, without any merit or worthiness in me. For all this it is my duty to thank and praise, serve and obey Him. This is most certainly true.

Bible Reading – Psalm 23

Prayer
Pray for the government and all who are in authority.
Pray that God grants wisdom, integrity, courage, and safety to all our leaders, to police, firefighters, health care professionals, and all who work for the public good.

Lord’s Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy name,
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done on earth
as it is in heaven;
give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those
who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom
and the power and the glory
forever and ever. Amen.

Benediction
Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Thess. 5:23 ESV)
