April 29: Gloria Dei Update

Hello Gloria Dei!

We are going to be celebrating the Lord’s Supper this Saturday, May 2.

Communion is by appointment.

We plan on providing the bread and wine for Communion.

We are waiting for the ability to gather in groups of 50, before we get back to a more normal Sunday gathering, and even then we will need to practice good sanitation, keep our distance, and wear masks.
We need to be smart and cautious, using those good gifts of knowledge that God gives us, to keep people safe.

We also need to refuse to live in fear, walk by faith, and share God’s gifts of hope, joy, salvation and everlasting life through Jesus’ death and resurrection.

We will have Communion Kits prepared. The bread and the wine will be packaged in plastic cups by folks wearing gloves and masks to avoid contamination.

We will meet in the narthex of the church by family groups in the corners corner of the room.

We will follow a brief liturgy, commune, and go out in God’s peace.

A few of things to be clear about:
1.     I am asking you to wear a mask. If you don’t own a mask, there are some available in the tub outside the front door. Please get one. We will have hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes.
2.     If you are not well – don’t come.
3.     If you are more comfortable bringing your own bread and wine, you are welcome to do so. If you do, your wine should be grape wine, and the same with the juice – it should be grape juice.
4.     If you are uncomfortable going out, if you feel that leaving home is too great of a risk to your health, that’s okay. Don’t come.

There are other opportunities to connecting with Jesus through his word. I’m publishing morning and evening devotions at www.lotrittens.blogspot.com. (You can subscribe to them on the site.) The morning devotions focus on our baptism, prayer, and a Psalm. The evening devotions focus on prayer and a reading from Luther’s Small Catechism.

Bob is leading online Bible studies. Watch for his email invitations.

Jesus has died. He is risen. He has ascended to heaven. Someday, he will come again. Therefore, everything is going to be okay.
