November 21 – The Last Sunday of the Church Year

Continue to focus on The End

The Problem of “Soon” –

-        Almost 2000 years

-        Calculating back to Adam and Eve – risky business! – 4000 years?

-        What is soon to the Eternal God?

-        “Before Abraham was, I am.” – John 8:58

Wisdom from Mark 13

-        No one knows.

-        Many have predicted dates. Foolishness!

-        Face each day with hope and humility.

Source of our Hope

-        Memorial Acclamation

o   Historic Liturgy

-        “Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again.”

Something like Drishti in yoga.

-        An anchor to keep us connected.

-        Refocus the mind.

-        In this case a confession that roots us to our moment and to the hope of our future.

A Form of Spiritual Mindfulness

-        Telling ourselves the truth.

-        Fixing our eyes on Jesus.
