Message:

Epiphany – Jesus Revealed to the World

Epistle Readings for Epiphany come (almost exclusively) from 1 Corinthians

-        This year: 1 Corinthians 12-15

Two Themes:

1.     The Revelation of Jesus and the Gospel.

2.     The Life of the Church

a.      The people of God

b.     In light of Jesus’ salvation.

c.      Gloria Dei

                                                    i.     Gathering People to Christ.

                                                  ii.     Building Believers in Christ.

                                                iii.     Serving the World as Christ.

3.     Combined: The Work of God through the Church to reveal Jesus’ salvation to people that they might believe and be saved.

Missio Dei – The Mission of God

-        God’s Mission

-        Jesus came to seek and save that which was lost.

-        Holy Spirit – “Calls, gathers, and enlightens”

-        Uses people to do this work.

o   Pastors and Missionaries?

o   Parents and Grandparents?

o   Friends and Neighbors?

o   Enemies?

God is at work in this world. He wants to be known. He will use you to introduce Himself.
