Epiphany – Shine Upon

Season to Highlight Jesus

-        Baptism “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.” & Holy Spirit & John

-        John’s Testimony – The Lamb of God

-        Jesus’ ministry begins & calling of the fist disciples & healing

-        3 weeks in the Sermon on the Mount – Revealing the Kingdom – very different!

-        Transfiguration – “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased. Listen to him!”

When we read our Bibles – listen to Jesus.

-        Even in the Early Scriptures – (resisting Old Testament) – “These speak of me!”

-        Not free to pick and choose.

-        Word – light in the darkness … and the darkness has not overcome it.

-        John 20:31 – These things are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name.”

Interplay of Light and Dark

-        Conflict

-        But not really – Light always drives away darkness.

-        Both at work in us – saints and sinners

-        Need more Jesus

o   Not just his teaching

o   Not just the ideas (James 2:19)

o   Receiving his word and promises – for you.

o   Epiphany – a light shining in you
